Frequently Asked
Questions
What training programs do we offer?
Our training center offers three comprehensive programs to meet your needs:
- CDL Automatic Transmission Course — limits you to operating commercial vehicles with automatic transmissions only.
- CDL Manual Transmission Course — allows you to drive vehicles with any transmission type (manual or automatic).
- Hourly Course — designed for professional drivers looking to upgrade from automatic to manual transmission or renew their CDL.
Note: Completing the automatic transmission course will restrict your CDL to automatic vehicles only. Finishing the manual transmission course gives you the flexibility to operate any type of transmission.
To enroll in training, simply fill out our registration form. After submission, our manager will contact you to confirm your details and schedule your first lesson. Please double-check the information you provide to ensure a smooth registration process.
What should you expect from this training program?
Your training at Start CDL Training is structured into seven clear stages:
DMV Examination: Complete your training with the official exam — the final step toward earning your CDL.
Pre-trip Inspection: Prepare for departure by thoroughly inspecting the truck, trailer, and air brake system, including an air brake test.
Backing: Practice backing maneuvers to improve precision.
Parallel Parking (Left and Right): Develop your control with both left and right side parking techniques.
Alley Dock Parking: Hone your ability to park in confined spaces.
City Driving: Gain confidence by navigating real-world driving scenarios.
Pre-Test: Take an internal exam to ensure you’re fully prepared for the final test.
How long does the training take?
The preparation for the exam will take you about a month.
We want to make sure that every student gets the necessary time they need before being ready for the final exam (DMV). Even if you’re not confident at any stage of the training, you can continue learning until you’re ready.
